Just because we don’t have an event this weekend doesn’t mean that we don’t have things happening at SkipAce.com! I am excited to announce the launch of our brand-new landing page for SkipAce.com. I have been working hard to bring you a new and improved landing page filled with information. You will see that I started writing articles almost 2 months ago that no one but me saw.
What is the Purpose?
There are a few reasons why I added a front end to the SkipAce website.
Immediacy. The first reason is to disseminate immediate information about the events as they come in. Currently if a player withdraws at the last minute I post it to the Facebook group, but that limits the information to people who are on that platform. Posting this information to the website is really easy and helpful for everyone who plays.
Information. The next reason is that people have asked for more information about SkipAce.com and I wanted a nice place for that important information. Giving a central location for FAQs, rules, podcasts, and opinions is going to be essential for growth of the site. Whether you are looking for news about upcoming events, updates about the site, or tips for improving your picks, you can find it all on the site. This new design will make it easier than ever to stay up-to-date with everything happening in the world of SkipAce.
Monetization. In addition to providing valuable information, our new front page will also help us monetize our website more effectively. We will be adding new advertising spaces to our front page that will allow us to generate revenue while still providing you with a clean and easy-to-use interface. This will help us invest more in the growth of SkipAce, which will ultimately benefit the entire community. Someday this project may actually be money flow positive. You can always skip the front page if you just go to: app.skipace.com, or there is the “Login to SkipAce” link at the top of the new page.
I am thrilled to be able to bring this new aspect of SkipAce.com that I hope you will enjoy using. As always, I welcome your feedback and suggestions.
Site Updates
Two smaller updates that we pushed out recently. The first was updating the rostered percentage for FPO players. We were not taking into account the number of leagues that didn’t have FPO players and so their rostered & starting percentages were lower than reality. Let us be honest, Tattar wasn’t 65% rostered, she is 100% rostered.
The other update was a scoring bug that we discovered in draft leagues. If you didn’t have a qualifying FPO player available in draft leagues it gave you the worst possible score for the MPO division. We updated the logic and reran the scores for draft leagues.
Contributing
If you are interested in contributing to the new website, please reach out. I am happy to have people write up summaries or if you feel you would like to be a fantasy disc golf “expert”, this is a great place to start. I am happy to work with you.
